Viewing Problems?

So, the images don't appear to be coming out alright on your browser?

The problem is most probably due to the fact that I make use of PNG graphics as much as possible on this site, avoiding GIF files if I can. Why? Because PNG files are technically much better, and because using GIF file can actually have legal implications that I don't want to think about. I won't bother going into detail on either of these issues. Check out PNG Online for technical stuff, and Burn All GIFs for the political viewpoint.

So, what can you do to fix the problem on your computer? You can upgrade your browser. That's about it, really. I'm just not bothered with making my site compatible with every browser that is out there. This ain't no Yahoo or Amazon.

I've been doing some testing with various browsers, and can you believe it, but NetScape and Mozilla both can't handle Transparent PNG files correctly! So you see a white box around a lot of the images on the site, rather than the correct look, which Internet Explorer and Opera do just fine. And Mozilla is supposed to be "standards based"?? What a load of crap...

Java Hassles?

I'm using WebTrends Live to track usage of my web site. They use JavaScript to do this primarily, though it does function without it. Cookies are optional too. If you're getting any JavaScript errors, let me know, but rest assured it's only affecting my web usage reports, not your browsing experience.

Incidentally, here's some privacy info about this web tracking that some of you might care about:

"This web site uses WebTrends Live to analyse traffic to this web site. WebTrends Live does not create individual profiles for visitors. Unlike some tracking services WebTrends Live does not have a database of individual profiles for each visitor. WebTrends Live only collects aggregate data. For more information about WebTrends Live privacy policy, please click here."

Something else?

If the problem you're having is not related to the graphics (a page won't load at all, there's a broken link to a file, whatever...) then you're best off e-mailing me, and I'll check it out and get back to you.
